Dealer Instructions

Listing your tarantula species on TARANTULA.COM is extremely easy.

The first step to becoming a dealer is to register as a standard member.  Once you have registered contact me and let me know you would like to become a dealer.  Make sure to put “Dealer Request” in the subject line and include the username you signed up with.  After I approve (As long as you don’t have a particularly shady past, this will be a quick process) I will switch your account over the dealer type (You will have all the same privileges as a regular member plus a few extra specific to tarantula dealers) and send you an email. 

Once you have become a dealer in the system you will notice a new link in the upper-left Member Menu when you are logged in called “Dealer Form” You will use this to add species listings as its just a matter of filling out the form.  To delete and edit current listing you will use a link to a back-end that I give you in the email.  Up at the top when you are in the back-end you will notice an “edit” tab which you will use to edit and delete your current listings.  You will only see the listings YOU created here.  Just like using the “Dealer Form” once you are on the page the rest is pretty self-explanatory.  Please don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions.

One important note: Before you add tarantula listings for a species that species must already be in the system for you to select.  Very few species are currently in the system, although this should change soon.  Because of this I am currently giving dealers the ability to add (but not edit or delete) species.  The only required fields are title (or common name), scientific name, and genus which will be available from a drop down menu.  (I should have all the genus of tarantula currently entered into system, if you find one missing please contact me and and I will promptly add it.) You can certainly add more info about the species if you’d like, however.  To add a species simply hover over the “publish” tab in the same back-end talked about above and a menu will appear allowing you to select “species”, again the rest is extremely self explanatory.  If you notice a mistake after submitting the species don’t worry about it, just make another one as I will periodically be checking for duplicates.  Just make sure you change your listing to the new correct species. I apologize about this inconvenience.

Recommendations: Make sure to add your website (if you have one), location, and a bio with any other information you like.  Each dealer will have a page where if they click on your username by your listing they will go to that will show this information as well as a list of the listings specific to you.  The email address displayed on this page will be javascript encoded to prevent spam bots from picking it up.
